Welcome to the Witness Section of JusticeBC

This section provides information and guidance to support you through the criminal justice system and help you learn more about the services and resources available to you as a witness to crime in British Columbia.

A witness is a person who has information about a crime that has been committed. As a witness you play a very important part in the criminal justice system. The information you provide can help police solve crimes and make the community safer.

If you are a witness to a crime, you may be experiencing a lot of different emotions. Deciding what to do after the incident can be frightening and confusing. Even though this may be a difficult time, there are services and people that can help you.

Many free support services and programs are offered by the province of B.C., Government of Canada and non-profit organizations in your community.

This section can help answer your questions and describe the process you may experience.
