Welcome to the Juror Section of JusticeBC

This section provides information and guidance on the criminal justice system and to help you learn about jury duty in British Columbia.

A juror is someone selected to participate in a court case who helps decide whether a person charged with committing a crime is guilty or not guilty. Jurors are randomly selected from the Elections BC list (provincial voter’s list).

A juror may be asked to participate in a criminal or civil trial. This will depend on whether the case relates to criminal or civil lawsuit. To learn more about the difference between criminal and civil justice, please visit: Justice in B.C..

This website focuses on jury information for criminal trials. For information about the civil jury process, please visit the Jury Duty website.

This section can help address your questions and describe the process you may experience.
