What to Do

When you arrive look for signs directing you to the right courtroom.  Courthouse staff or sheriffs can also assist you.

Give the sheriff your name and number so they can register you. For easy registration, bring your jury summons with you. If you forget your summons, tell the sheriff. They will need some other I.D. to register you. Once you have been registered, the sheriff will take you to the courtroom or an adjacent room where you will sit with the rest of the jury panel.

The sheriff will explain the jury selection process and answer any questions.

Important Note: If, at any point in the trial, you realize you know or have some prior association with the defendant, a witness, the judge or lawyer, you must tell a court official at once. Otherwise, this could result in an unfair trial. The judge will decide whether you should stay on the jury or not.
