Welcome to the Reporting a Crime section of JusticeBC

This section provides information and guidance to help you report a crime. It includes information to help you understand what is considered a crime, what is involved in reporting a crime and what people and support services are available to help you.

By coming forward to report a crime, you can help yourself and others, you can contribute to making a safer community and, you will play an important part in the criminal justice system.

When you report a crime to police, they will ask you to make a statement and provide all the information you know about the crime.

You can also report a crime anonymously.

Some of the reasons to report crime are:

  • it can give you an opportunity to deal with the harm that has been done to you or others; and
  • it can help to protect you, your loved ones and the community from future crimes.
