Community Organizations

Many community groups and non-profit organizations are active in making the community and public more aware of preventing crime. To learn about some of these organizations, please visit:

  • B.C. Crime Stoppers - an independent non-profit society that encourages community involvement in fighting crime.
  • B.C. Crime Prevention Association (BCCPA) - an organization of police and community members that creates awareness of crime and encourages community participation in fighting crime. The BCCPA supports the B.C. Citizens Patrol Network, volunteers who help local police identify suspicious activities in the community. Their assistance can help police prevent and respond quickly to crime.
  • Block Watch Society of B.C. -  a program that helps communities and businesses work together to help prevent crime. The Society works to improve relations between the community and the police.
  • Children of the Street Society - focuses on public awareness programs for youth, service providers, educators and families. They include programs to prevent children and youth from living on the street and from being exposed to drugs and the sex trade.
